Red Lotus Threads handbags are made by the Hmong hill tribe of Northern Thailand and are hand-selected by Sarah Walatka. Sarah worked as an editorial and celebrity fashion stylist in New York City, dressing celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Martha Stewart, Cassie, Brandy, Adriana Lima, and Mary J. Blige. Her fashion editorial contributions include O, Martha Stewart Living, Jane, Lulla, and Allure magazines. In the fall of 2008 Sarah moved to Thailand and while on a trip to Chiang Mai discovered the fabulous handicrafts made by the local village's Hmong tribe women. Drawing on her New York fashion experience and her vegetarian lifestyle, Sarah decided to create a website selling fashion accessories with a conscience, hence the birth of www.redlotusthreads.com. Every bag is 100% vegan. That means no products derived from an animal were used. Anyone, vegan or not, would want to carry an RLT bag because of its style alone. The fact that RLT bags are made with compassion towards humans, animals, and the environment simply adds to the overall appeal of the bags.
